K-Uniform Style
Korean school uniform styles have evolved alongside changing eras since they were first introduced at Ewha Haktang in 1886. Initially, designs were influenced by Hanbok, but through the Japanese colonial period, Western and Japanese designs were blended, eventually developing into modern designs after liberation. Currently, Korean school uniforms serve as a pillar of K-fashion, focusing on neatness and practicality while offering various designs and customization options that allow students to express their individuality. Recently, "comfortable school uniforms" that emphasize ease of movement and designs that modernly reinterpret traditional Hanbok elements have also been gaining attention. Furthermore, as they are featured through K-pop idols and K-dramas, they are gaining popularity worldwide and are being recognized as a fashion item beyond mere school attire. Students also create their own unique styles by accessorizing or modifying parts of their uniforms.
