TL;DR — 4 things to know
- Most KTX trains to Jeonju leave from Yongsan, not Seoul Station. On the timetable we checked for 25 October 2026 there were about 19 KTX trains a day from Yongsan (about 1 h 30 min–1 h 50 min, ₩31,600 standard), but only about 6 from Seoul Station and 3 from Suseo. Fares already include the September 2026 cut.
- The express bus costs about half the train fare. From Seoul Express Bus Terminal it takes about 2 h 56 min and costs ₩16,400 (standard) or ₩22,000 (excellent) after the 1 October 2026 fare rise.
- Most of the Hanok Village is free. Jeondong Cathedral, Omokdae, Jeonju Hyanggyo and Pungnammun charge nothing. Gyeonggijeon Shrine is ₩3,000 for adults, and it is free on the last Wednesday of each month.
- Jeonju Station is not in the village. Allow about 25 minutes by city bus (₩1,650 by transit card, ₩1,700 cash since August 2025) or take a taxi, and leave the same margin for the trip back to your train.

How to eat it
Mix everything together before you start. In a stone pot, the crisp rice on the bottom is meant to be eaten.
Makgeolli alleys (막걸리 골목): Jeonju has several, in Samcheon-dong, Seosin-dong, Gyeongwon-dong and Inhu/Ua-dong, according to the city's tourism site; Samcheon-dong is designated a Jeonju Future Heritage. The alleys are outside the Hanok Village, so take a taxi.
