Incheon Beyond the Airport

Chinatown · Open Port · Sinpo Market · Wolmido · Songdo · Yeongjong Island

TL;DR — 3 things to know

Getting There — From ICN or Seoul

Plan around two hubs: Incheon Station for old Incheon, Central Park Station for Songdo.

ICN → Chinatown by rail — Take an AREX all-stop train to Gyeyang, change to Incheon Subway Line 1 to Bupyeong, then Seoul Subway Line 1 to its last stop, Incheon Station. Two transfers, about 1.5 hours or more (approx.). Fares are distance-based and charged when you tap out; the AREX airport section adds its own fare.

ICN → Chinatown by taxi or bus — A taxi takes roughly 40 minutes to an hour depending on traffic (approx.). Bus 306 (Terminal 1 only) runs to Dong-incheon Station, a short walk from Sinpo Market; weekday buses come about every 20 minutes.

ICN → Songdo — Airport bus 6777 runs from Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 to Songdo Central Park with no transfers (about ₩8,000 adult per route listings; buses are infrequent). The cheaper rail route is AREX to Gyeyang, then Incheon Subway Line 1 straight to Central Park Station.

Seoul → Incheon Station — Seoul Subway Line 1 runs from Seoul Station to Incheon Station without a transfer, about an hour or a bit more (approx.). Metro fares start at ₩1,550 by card for 10 km plus ₩100 per extra 5 km, so your app will show a little over ₩2,000.

Back to the airport or Seoul — AREX from Seoul Station: express ₩13,000 (43 min to T1), all-stop by transit card ₩4,750 to T1 and ₩5,350 to T2. From Incheon Station, retrace the Line 1 route or take a taxi.

Incheon Station is not the airport. Incheon Station (인천역) is in the old city; the airport stations are Incheon Int'l Airport T1 and T2. Since 1 July 2026 Chinatown and Wolmido are in Jemulpo-gu and the airport island in Yeongjong-gu, so older maps may still say Jung-gu.

6 Places — What Each One Is

What to Eat — Incheon Specialities

Jjajangmyeon
Noodles in black bean sauce. The Gonghwachun building in Chinatown, now the Jjajangmyeon Museum, is popularly called its birthplace, though local historians note there is no firm proof it sold the first bowl.
Jjamppong
Spicy seafood noodle soup, the other Korean-Chinese staple. Every Chinatown restaurant serves both; prices vary by shop.
Dakgangjeong
Sweet, sticky fried chicken. Incheon's tourism office says it was first developed in Sinpo market, and it is still the market's best-known takeaway.
Jjolmyeon & gonggalppang
Chewy cold noodles in a spicy sauce and gonggalppang, a large hollow bread. Incheon's tourism office lists both among the snacks that started in Sinpo market.

Sample Day — Old Incheon on Foot

Pick Tuesday to Sunday. Times are suggestions, not measured travel times.

10:00 — Arrive at Incheon Station. Cross to Chinatown, then the Jjajangmyeon Museum and the Open Port streets.

12:00 — Lunch in Chinatown: jjajangmyeon and jjamppong.

13:30 — Walk to Sinpo International Market for dakgangjeong.

15:00 — Back to Wolmi Bada Station for the Sea Train loop, or bus 2 / 45 to Wolmido.

17:00 — Sunset on the Wolmido promenade, then Line 1 back to Seoul or a taxi to the airport.

Songdo instead? Songdo works better as an evening stop: Central Park Station is on Incheon Line 1, and from Incheon Station you can take the Suin-Bundang Line to Woninjae and change there.
